What went wrong on Wednesday?
On Wednesday Tata Sons did not come to the desk mainly for technical reasons. To become a title sponsor, Tatas had to block three classes as title sponsor which means three totally different manufacturers below their flagship. So they could have decided to dam Tata tea, Tata Motors & Titan. But the BCCI allowed them to block just one class. This did not go well with the corporate. “That is BCCI’s coverage choice and any potential bidder has to reside with it. Suppose BCCI would’ve allowed Tatas to dam three classes – Tata Motors, Tata tea & TCS – they’d not have had the choice of inviting any of the rival manufacturers out there – Mahindra or Tetley or Infosys, as an illustration – on board,” says a trade govt to TOI.
