The stage is set for all the cricket-playing nations to witness the biggest cricket tournament this year, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Cricket enthusiasts all across the world are super excited to see which country gets a hold of the World Cup trophy this year. With preparations in full swing, all the teams have been arriving on India’s land. After South Africa, the Afghanistan cricket team landed in India this afternoon.
A warm welcome
Afghanistan becomes the second country after South Africa to reach India. The team and the management landed in Kerela’s Thiruvananthapuram. The team checked in at the Hyatt Regency hotel and received a warm welcome from the hotel staff and management. On their arrival at the hotel, Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan could be seen being greeted by the staff, which went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter. Team South Africa has already reached India and landed in Kerala’s capital on Monday.
With Afghanistan all set to play its 3rd ICC ODI World Cup, captain Hashmatullah Shahidi is ready to lead the country in the Cricket World Cup 2023. Team Afghanistan’s first warm-up match has been scheduled for September 29th, i.e., Friday. The warm-up match will see South Africa and Afghanistan lock horns at the Greenfield International Stadium in the capital city of Kerala.
Can Afghanistan have a chance at winning the World Cup?
It’s a known fact that lately, the Afghanistan cricket team has not performed up to par. But it is also noteworthy that the team possesses exceptional talents that can turn out to be troublesome for opponent teams. Over the past few months, the team has witnessed an upgrade in their performance.
After scoring 300/5 against Pakistan during the Asia Cup last month, the players really outdid themselves as outstanding performers. Not just this, they also knocked out Sri Lanka in Pakistan’s Lahore. The trio of Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Mohammad Nabi is enough to unleash havoc on the opposing team’s batsmen. The batting prowess Nabi and Rashid possess is also worth noticing. All these talents have their own flair and can really prove to be a threat to some of the finest batsmen.
