Another heartbreak for India. In the first Test against India, they faced a huge defeat of an innings and 32 runs. Now another Test match of the series is scheduled to start from January 3 to January 7. Before that, the South African team received bad news. As per reports, South African skipper Temba Bavuma is all set to miss the last Test match of the series due to a hamstring injury.
Bavuma’s Injury and a Setback:
In the South Africa tour, Team India was scheduled to play a two-match Test series. The first Test match of the series started on December 26 at Centurion. During the first session of the first Test match, Bavuma suffered a strain on his left hamstring. He went out of the the field. He didn’t come to bat and was out of the participation in the match.
Before heading to the second Test match, the injury woes continue for the South African squad. As per the reports, Temba Bavuma has been ruled out from the second Test at Cape Town. In his absence, Dean Elgar will be leading the team in the second Test match against India.
India’s Heartbreaking Defeat:
On December 26, India and South Africa met at the Centurion to play the first Test match of the series. The match ended in just three days. South Africa dominated India and won the match by an innings and 32 runs. Indian batting lineup struggled since the beginning of the match. No other Indian batter could stand in front of South African bowlers. In the first innings, Lokesh Rahul played an innings of 101 runs in 137 runs.
While batting in the first innings, South Africa has shown their class. Dean Elgar played an excellent knock of 185 runs in 287 balls. He smashed 28 boundaries. Indian bowlers struggled a lot to dismiss him. David Bedingham scored 56 runs in 87 balls. Marco Jansen was unstoppable. He retired to the pavilion being unbeaten in 84 runs. They got all out in 408 runs.
The second inning of India was a disaster. Wickets were going down frequently. The South African bowlers have shown their excellence since the start. When the wickets were going down, Virat Kohli stood tall and played an innings of 76 runs in 82 balls. Shubman Gill scored 26 runs in 37 balls. They got all out in 131 runs. South Africa won the match by an innings and 32 runs. The Test series win in South Africa remains a dream for Team India.
