Former cricketer Kirti Azad thinks that Rishabh Pant is a talented batsman but he just needs to keep his calm. In a recent interview with Sportskeeda Azad said that it is sad that Pant is being wasted.
The impulsive Pant
Rishabh Pant is one of the bright starts of Indian cricket. After Dhoni, he was thought to play the role of keeper-batsman well and maintain the balance of the team just like Dhoni did. But things did not go really well and the selectors had to look for other options. But there are still few experts who believe is the young talent. Kirti Azad, former Indian cricketer is one of those who wants to keep faith in Pant. But he knows where Pant is going wrong. “He is very impulsive. I think he can turn out to be a very good batsman than a keeper. And, if he keeps his head cool, the question is that he wants to hit every ball, you are not playing T20 cricket when you are playing a 50-overs game or a Test match.”
Sad to see Pant getting wasted
He added that one needs to learn the art of staying at the wicket for a longer time. Azad opined that runs will come automatically if one focuses on staying at the crease and that’s what even Pant needs to do. “You have to learn to stay at the wicket. If you stay at the wicket, the runs are going to come to you.”
Azad further explained why it hurts to see Pant getting wasted. Azad opined what went wrong with Rishabh Pant in most of the times. “Some good ball takes your wicket, I can understand, but if you hit a big shot and get out, which has happened most of the times as far as Rishabh Pant is concerned, I feel sorry because he is a great talent getting wasted.”
