“There’s no doubt that they can beat Australia…” Pakistan’s Team Director Mohammad Hafeez is Optimistic About Pakistan’s Win on Australian Soil

After the World Cup, Australia and Pakistan are scheduled to play a three-match Test series. The first test was played on December 14 and ended on December 17. In four days, the test match ended. Australia registered a huge victory of 360 runs. Pakistan faced another defeat on Australian soil. But the Director of Pakistan Cricket, Mohammad Hafeez is optimistic about the team’s performance in upcoming matches.

Pakistan’s Performance:

After a long time, both teams are back in the longest format of cricket. Both teams met at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Pakistan showed a feeble performance in the first test match. David Warner is playing the last Test series of his career. In the first innings, he was excellent. He played a knock of 164 runs in 211 balls with 16 boundaries and 4 over-boundaries. Pakistan bowlers struggled in that innings. Australia put on a massive score of 487 runs on the board.

In the second innings, Pakistan’s batting performance was horrible. In the 7th over, Pakistan was 19/3. Saud Shakeel scored 24 runs in 51 balls. That was the highest score of the Pakistani side. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood were exceptional in the match. They both picked up three wickets each. Nathan Lyon got two wickets in 14 runs. Pakistan got all-out in 89 runs and faced a defeat of 360 runs.

Mohammad Hafeez’s Optimistic Words:

Pakistan’s performance in the first test was like a nightmare. They have made numerous mistakes. From tactics to batting, bowling, and even in fielding. Because of those mistakes, they struggled and faced a massive defeat. But the Director of Pakistan Cricket, Mohammad Hafeez is optimistic about the team. After facing a huge setback, he still thinks Pakistan can bounce back and can win the match on Australian soil.

He said, “I’ve seen during our preparation the amount of talent these guys have. There’s no doubt that they can beat Australia here in Australia. But obviously, we couldn’t do that execution-wise. The plan was there and we prepared accordingly. I still believe that as a team, Pakistan can beat Australia here in Australia, but we must execute our skills when required.”

Later he added, “We couldn’t execute our skills. We made plans for the team, but unfortunately, as a team, we couldn’t execute our plans. Obviously, the guys wanted to, but they never applied themselves, to be honest. As a team, we made a couple of tactical errors. There were certain situations where we could have dominated. We were prepared, but our execution wasn’t great.”
