Three KKR Debutants as Jadeja Faces a Tough Challenge Against Shreyas Iyer in IPL Season Opener

Under new captain Shreyas Iyer, Kolkata Knight Riders are giving tough time to the defending champions Chennai Super Kings. Iyer who used to be a mainstay of Delhi Capitals was acquired and subsequently made the new captain of Kolkata Knight Riders. Along with him, Ajinkya Rahane and Sam Billings also got the maiden KKR caps today ahead of the season opener of IPL between KKR and CSK.

Two new captains appeared for the first match toss of IPL 2022. Shreyas Iyer , the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and chose to bowl first. On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja was just picked up as the new CSK captain by MS Dhoni just a couple of days back sounded elated to don the captain’s cap for the first time in his T20 career.

Shreyas Iyer said, “We will bowl first. I am super excited. It is a great honour to don this jersey. The players who have been playing for this unit have been doing well. The track seems to be a belter and the dew will come in later and make it better. We are going in with three overseas players – Billings, Narine and Russell. Three of us got caps today. Myself, Billings and Rahane.”

Ravindra Jadeja said, “Big shoes to fill in. Happy and excited for the new role. We are going with four foreign players. Conway, Bravo, Milne and Santner are our foreign players. “
