The USA’s Massive Defeat:

After having an exciting group stage season, both the hosts, the USA and the West Indies faced each other at the Kensington Oval. While batting first, the USA batters struggled in front of the dominating bowling of the West Indies bowlers. Opener Steven Taylor was dismissed scoring only 2 runs. Andries Gous played a quickfire of 29 runs in 16 balls. Nitish Kumar and Aaron Jones added 20 and 11 runs. Milind Kumar was dismissed on 19 runs in 21 balls. They got all out on 128 runs.

The target was not difficult for the West Indies batters to chase down. USA bowlers struggled even with the ball in the second innings. Only Harmeet Singh secured a wicket by conceding 18 runs in 2 overs. The other bowlers failed to dominate. Saurabh Netravalkar conceded 31 runs and secured no wickets. Milind Kumar conceded 22 runs in 1 over and didn’t secure any wickets. West Indies chased down the target in just 11 overs and registered a win of 9 wickets.

Jones on the Defeat:

After having exceptional outings in the previous games, this massive defeat hit hard to the USA. While reflecting in this match, the USA skipper Aaron Jones said, “Tough night for the boys. We had to score about 170-180 today. In the middle overs, we lost wickets in clusters, it goes like that sometimes. At the end of the day, we needed runs on the board. We tried to go hard with the ball but we know West Indies are a good batting unit.”
