Trinbago Knight Riders Enlist Jhulan Goswami as Mentor for Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2024

Another new role for one of the greatest woman cricketers Jhulan Goswami is up for another duty. After serving the nation for long, she is set to be in a new role. As T20 cricket is taking up the world, Kolkata Knight Riders has a sister franchise in WCPL named Trinbago Knight Riders. Jhulan Goswami has now joined the franchise as a mentor in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2024.

Jhulan Goswami’s New Role:

In the women’s cricket world, Jhulan Goswami is a gem. Over the years while playing for India, she was one of the team’s biggest assets. Over a 20-year international career, Goswami took 355 wickets for India before retiring in 2022. Following her retirement from international cricket, she now serves as the bowling coach and mentor for the Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League.

Jhulan Goswami has taken on a new role as a mentor for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2024, marking her debut in an overseas T20 league. The franchise has recently bolstered its squad by recruiting star players including India’s Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey, as well as Australia’s Meg Lanning and Jess Jonassen, all of whom currently represent the Delhi Capitals in the WPL.

Jhulan’s Words on Her New Role:

The Indian Speedstar is all set to be seen in another prestigious role. She is all set for another new innings. While talking about this, she said, “It’s an honour to join such a quality franchise. Knight Riders have done so well in India and around the world, and to join TKR Women at the WCPL is a pleasure. Thanks to KKR management for thinking about me as a mentor and I’m really looking forward to this tournament.”

Later she said, “The conversation about me joining TKR started with Mr. Venky Mysore. As a management head, the way he takes care of everyone is amazing. I felt really honoured by the way both Shah Rukh Khan and Venky sir welcomed me and spoke to me when we met in Kolkata during the IPL.”

Jhulan Goswami’s inclusion is an impactful decision by the franchise. While talking about this, the CEO of Knight Riders Group Venky Mysore said,  “Jhulan Goswami is an absolute legend of the game, and we are very happy to have her on board as the mentor of the TKR Women’s team. We strongly believe that under Jhulan’s mentorship, the team will reach greater heights.”

Later he added,  “It’s a fantastic opportunity for the youngsters to pick Jhulan’s brains and learn from her experiences to become better cricketers themselves. We would like to wish her all the best, and look forward to seeing her in the TKR setup soon.”

The WCPL 2024 is scheduled from August 21 to 29. The tournament includes seven matches, all hosted at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.
