Twitter Reactions: Wishes poured in for MS Dhoni on his 300th ODI

India’s veteran batsman MS Dhoni achieved the landmark of playing 300 ODIs when he featured in the 4th ODI in Colombo against Sri Lanka. It was his 297th ODI for India and the other 3 occurred when he played for Asia XI against Africa XI.

Dhoni is the 6th Indian to achieve the feat after Sachin Tendulkar (463 ODIs), Rahul Dravid (344 ODIs), Mohammad Azharuddin (334 ODIs), Sourav Ganguly (311 ODIs) and Yuvraj Singh (304 ODIs). He joins an elite list that includes some stalwarts of Indian cricket.

The Indian team made the occasion even more special when they presented Dhoni a special memento before the start of the 4th ODI. India’s skipper Virat Kohli presented it on behalf of the whole team and said, “90 percent of us have started our careers under you. It is an honor to give this memento to him. You will always remain our captain.”

An astonishing career

MS Dhoni has had an outstanding career so far. As a skipper of the Indian side, he has an unmatched record. He is also the only captain in the world to win all the ICC Trophies – World Cup, World T20 and Champions Trophy. Under his leadership, India made it to the No.1 rankings in Test cricket as well.

Not just leadership, his skills with the bat in the ODI format have been a boon to the country. In 300 matches, he has scored 9657 runs at a daunting average of 52.2. Batting at No.6, no other cricketer is even close to such an outstanding record.

The right-hander has played the role of a finisher throughout his life and won countless matches for his side. The best example of that took place in the final of the 2011 ODI World Cup where he scored match-winning 91* and won the country the prestigious title after 28 years. The Indian fans would be hoping to see a lot more of MS in the future as well.

The Twitteratis poured their love for the former captain
