Team India was on a rampage at the Holkar Stadium, Indore as they clinched the 3rd win on the trot against Australia to gain an unassailable lead in the series. With the thumping win, Virat Kohli and his men reached the pole position of the ICC ODI Rankings by displacing South Africa.
India now has a rating of 120 from 48 matches and surpassed the Proteas who have a rating of 119 from 50 matches. Australia retained the No.3 spot but dropped in the ratings to reach 114. Australia is in danger of losing the 3rd spot as England is dominating Windies in the ODI series and a victory for England would see them rising above the Aussies.

Australia wasted a chance in Indore
After being 2-0 down in the series, Australia began well in the 3rd ODI with Aaron Finch scoring a magnificent hundred. The opener had a solid partnership with the skipper Steve Smith as they added 154 runs for the 2nd wicket. At 224/1, they looked like getting way past 300 but as it happened twice earlier in the series, a wicket triggered a collapse and they were halted to 293, well short of what they should have got.
In reply, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane laid the foundation with a solid opening stand of 139. Hardik Pandya then carried on the momentum and gave his side a series-clinching victory by 5 wickets.

Along with his players, Kohli too is growing into his role. And getting more lucid too by the day. Good to hear.

I did not quite understand why Smith bowled Agar against Pandya at the start and allowed him to settle.

The batsmen might have finished it but the bowlers in the last 15 overs set it up brilliantly.
