The high-voltage final of the T20 World Cup 2024 is going on. After having a thrilling season, India and South Africa are locking horns at the Kensington Oval. Both teams are giving their best. While batting first, Team India faced some early setbacks. But Virat Kohli’s fighting knock pushed India to put on a fighting total on the board. With that, Virat Kohli registered an unusual record of scoring a second-slowest half-century.
Unusual Record by King Kohli:
The T20 World Cup is down to its final game, set to crown a new champion. Both South Africa and India have showcased exceptional skills, reaching the final without a single loss. This remarkable feat means the winner will remain unbeaten, while the runner-up will face their first and most heart-wrenching defeat of the tournament. The journey has been thrilling, and the final promises to be an unforgettable clash.
While batting in the first innings, Team India lost some quick wickets and that was a huge setback in the big game-like final. But even after not having a great season, King Kohli created his magic. He scored a responsible half-century. But along with that, he registered an unusual record. In the 17th over, Anrich Nortje came to bowl and Virat Kohli came to the strike. In the fifth ball, he took a single and secured his first-ever fifty in this tournament.
He scored his half-century in 48 balls and that has been recorded as the second slowest half-century in the T20 World Cup. That is an unwanted record. Suryakumar Yadav is leading the list of unwanted records with a 49-ball fifty earlier this tournament against the USA. Virat Kohli achieved this feat previously in the T20 World Cup 21 scoring a 45-ball fifty against Pakistan.
India’s Hard Fight:
Coming to the final match with an unbeaten streak, Team India faced a setback after losing their first three wickets in the first five overs. Rohit Sharma was dismissed in 9 runs. Rishabh Pant walked away on a duck. Suryakumar Yadav could not do much and was dismissed on 3 runs. After all these setbacks. Virat Kohli stood tall. He scored a half-century and played a knock of 76 runs in 59 balls.
Axar Patel was in a great rhythm. While building a partnership with Virat Kohli, he played a knock of 47 runs in 31 balls. Shivam Dube played a knock of 27 runs in 16 balls. Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten on 5 runs in 2 balls. With those exceptional efforts, India scored 176/7 in 20 overs.
