For the 11th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan will be entering the tournament with a match against hosts USA at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas on June 6.
Both Pakistan and USA men’s teams are placed in Group A for the tournament, alongside India, Canada and Ireland. India and USA have played 1 match each, and won 2 points. Meanwhile, Canada and Ireland have lost these matches.
Pakistan will be facing off against India in an exciting match for the tournament on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. The match has already garnered more attention than any other matches that have been played in T20 World Cup 2024.
Monank Patel thinks the USA can defeat Pakistan if…
Team USA’s captain Monank Patel is not under confident while looking forward to his side’s match against the more experienced Pakistan team.
The Indian-born American had played Under 18 cricket in India before moving out to the USA and becoming their team’s captain.
Patel explained that his side is definitely contemplating their chances against Pakistan when both sides meet on June 6 during the T20 World Cup. Monank feels a good 30-40 minutes could sway the game in favor of the USA.
“once we have a good 30-40 minutes on the field against Pakistan, you never know. We can take the game away from them”. He said.
Monank’s leadership had led the USA team to a series win against Bangladesh ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. USA’s first fixture for the tournament against Canada also came out in favor of his team.
USA’s vision for the T20 World Cup 2024
Ahead of the team’s second match for the tournament, Patel had indulged in a detailed statement that showed how visionary the USA team is.
“Before we started the World Cup you know we had a vision to qualify in the Super Eights and we want to focus one game at a time and we had a great start against Canada and we would like to continue it and playing against top 10 teams in the world gives us a chance to showcase our talent and make sure we play our best against Pakistan,” Monank said ahead of the clash.
Speaking on the match against Canada, Patel added:
“The first game definitely helped us. We got good momentum. We will make sure that we carry forward that momentum in the next game. Pakistan is a good side, is a well-experienced side, and we will make sure that we play the cricket we have been playing,”
USA and Pakistan’s match will be the 11th T20 out of 55 matches scheduled for the world cup.
