Varun Chakaravarthy’s Perfect Spell:
Due to rain, the match was delayed and cut down to 16 overs. After winning the toss, MI gave KKR batting first. Though KKR didn’t start very well and lost a couple of wickets early, Venkatesh Iyer and Ramandeep Singh batted well and put up 157 runs. While chasing, MI started really well at first but KKR bowler did exceptional bowling and restricted them before the targeted score. Among all the bowlers, Varun Chakaravarthy did an amazing spell and snatched the game from his opponent.
Varun Chakaravarthy proved instrumental in Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowling attack, delivering an impressive spell of 4 overs for just 17 runs and claiming two vital wickets. His skillful variations and precise execution troubled Mumbai Indians’ batsmen, dismissing the likes of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya. Chakaravarthy’s economical bowling and crucial breakthroughs played a pivotal role in containing Mumbai Indians’ scoring momentum. His ability to deceive batsmen with his mystery spin and control over line and length showcased his value as a key asset for KKR. Chakaravarthy’s performance significantly contributed to KKR’s competitive display against a formidable batting lineup.
Tonight’s POTM Award Achiever, Varun Chakaravarthy:
Following his impactful 4-over spell, Varun Chakaravarthy emerged as the standout Player of the Match. Reflecting on his performance, he shared his sentiments and emotions, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to his team’s success. Chakaravarthy’s stellar bowling display earned him well-deserved accolades and recognition.
Varun Chakaravarthy said, “ The plan was to make him (Rohit) hit across the line, obviously there was help from the wicket and I was able to use it to my advantage. Tactically we (talking about Narine) are similar, but technically we are slightly different. The wickets were too flat initially, my bowling has been same from the first match and it is just that the results are showing up now.”
