Vinod Kambli’s Fragile Health Condition
Videos from the occasion reveal a visibly frail Kambli holding on to his childhood buddy, Sachin Tendulkar, as if afraid to let go in view of the gathering crowd that followed around them.
The emotional moment sparked conversations about Kambli’s struggles Another video had surfaced in August, showing Kambli struggling to walk, deepening the concerns.
“He has severe, multiple health issues,” said Marcus Couto, a former umpire and close friend of Kambli. Couto revealed that Kambli has battled addiction for years and has already been to rehab 14 times, though progress has been minimal.

Kapil Dev’s Offer to Vinod Kambli
The 1983 World Cup-winning squad has now extended a helping hand to Kambli. Kamble has been battling alcohol addiction for a long time. Thus, Kapil Dev has gathered the members of the 1983 World Cup-winning team to help Kambli out. However, their help comes with one condition, ‘Kambli must check in to a rehab facility.’
“Kapil has made it clear—if he’s ready to go to rehab, we’ll help him financially,” said Balwinder Singh Sandhu, a former seamer and teammate. “But he needs to take the first step himself. If he does that, we’ll pay for the entire treatment, no matter how long it takes.”
This support echoes the camaraderie that the 1983 heroes displayed when they rallied behind Anshuman Gaekwad during his cancer treatment.
And now, all eyes are on Kambli. The cricket fraternity, his fans, and his former teammates will expect him to accept the helping hands being offered and make proper approaches to reclaim his health and his life.
