Ravi Shastri wished Dhawan saying that the latter is still young and has ample ways to make his contribution in the sport.

Dhawan was known for his fearless openings to the innings and his stylish celebrations on the field, He is popularly known as Gabbar among the fans. Dhawan made his progression and made his debut in 2010 in ODIs. He also became the player of the tournament in 2013 Champions trophy by scoring the most runs (363) in the tournament which led to the victory of India to the trophy. Across all the formats he made 10867 runs in international cricket which is the 12th most for india, along with 24 centuries and 79 fifty plus scores and also an awardee of Mr icc which defines his legacy as a successful opener in the team.
