Virender Sehwag terms Rahul Dravid as the world’s best coach

The Indian Under-19 team recently created history by winning the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2018 and became the only team to clinch the title 4 times. While the youngsters like Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, Kamlesh Nagarkoti became overnight stars due to their standout performances, one man who has received applauds from all corners of the world is the coach Rahul Dravid.

The former Indian batsman was instrumental in grooming the youngsters for the past one and a half year and his hard work shows in the results. Even though he doesn’t like being in the limelight and even after winning the trophy, he said that it’s embarrassing that he gets the attention because of him being the coach yet it’s his humility that makes him one of the greats of the game.

Dravid was offered earlier the coaching role of the Indian senior team but he opted to take up the job of training the Under-19 side as he wanted to groom the young talents of the country. The man stayed away from the limelight yet again and delivered perfectly, just like his playing days.

Virender Sehwag lauded Dravid during a show named ‘Cricket Ki Baat’. “In his 16 or 17 years career, Rahul Dravid never managed to get his hands around the world cup trophy, but as a coach, he has lived that dream with the help of this young U-19 team,” said Sehwag.

“Dravid is world’s best coach at the moment and as a player, his records speak for themselves. He prepared his wards for the big game and taught him the nuances to handle the pressure of a big final,” he added.
