Waqar Younis Expresses Disappointment With Pakistan’s Defeat Against Afghanistan, Says “The Attitude Was Totally Missing”

After Afghanistan registered a record-breaking win against Babar Azam and Co. at Chepauk yesterday, Pakistani fans and former cricketers directed at the team expressing frustration over the indefinite loss. Despite winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Pakistan could not restrict the Afghans within the par target of 282 runs. Pakistan’s bowling attack has not been functioning smoothly since the commencement of the tournament and fans and cricketers have been pointing to this very reason for the instability the team is facing.

Afghanistan reckoned on its batting prowess while the openers recorded a 100-run partnership for the first time in history against Pakistan. Waqar Younis, former Pakistani cricketer asserted that it is definitely an upset for the Men in Green as they registered their third consecutive defeat in the tournament.

There was no method: Younis

While criticising the Pakistani team and their methods, Waqar Younis told Star Sports that “That’s not the Pakistan team. I know you know. The attitude was totally missing zero out there. There was no method. It was just you Ball, you ball. You know we are not going to the field and we are sitting on the heels. There was so much to sort of. We can sit down here all night and criticise because they have provided us so much to talk about.”

Counter reacting to Afghanistan’s win

Though the former Pakistani cricketer was all baffled up with the Men in Green, he appreciated Afghanistan for their unwavering efforts which helped them to achieve the milestone. “It is very hurting. But I am very happy for Afghanistan. Also, don’t forget because you know they deserve it. The way they handle the pressure, the way they played cricket. I’m happy for them. I am gutted because you know what I’ve seen today”, added Younis.
