After the completion of all the 74 matches of IPL 2024, players from different teams are now coming together for their national teams, to play in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
The ICC T20 World Cup is right off the corner, as it is going to be co hosted by the USA and West Indies and starts on June 1. The first match for the cup is going to be a face off between team USA and Canada.
India’s first match for the series is going to be against Ireland on June 5 in the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. The fan favorite match between India and Pakistan is scheduled for June 9 in the same venue.
Wasim Akram taunts Indian squad
Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, the Indian cricket team was supposed to disperse for the USA in 2 batches because of the IPL 2024 ending on 26 May. The team leaves in 2 phases with the first batch including all players whose IPL teams couldn’t make it to the finals.
Ironically, all members of the 15-player squad could have just reached the USA together, as none of them got to play in the IPL finals. The first batch has reached New York on Sunday.
On this, Pakistan legend Wasim Akram called it a ‘blessing in disguise’ for Indian cricket.Â
“Well, now at least none of them will have to say that they are tired. They were thinking ahead, what is the point of reaching the final, India is more important, we will play with the country. But it could be a blessing in disguise for India,” he said.
