Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel have both been impressive in their recent performances with India A. Their strong showings earned them spots in the main squad for this critical series. With Shubman Gill sidelined due to a thumb injury, both players are now in contention for a place in the starting XI.
Padikkal has played just one Test match against England, where he scored an impressive 65 runs. Jurel has also made a name for himself as a reliable wicketkeeper-batter during Rishabh Pant’s absence. His performances with India A have positioned him as a potential specialist batter in the lineup.

India aims to secure a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final while defending the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the third consecutive time. After a disappointing series against New Zealand, India needs to win four matches and draw one to solidify their place in the WTC final.
In Rohit Sharma’s absence, Jasprit Bumrah will captain the Indian team during the first Test in Perth. Bumrah last led India in a Test match back in July 2022 against England.
