In an electrifying debut for India, fast bowler Mayank Yadav made headlines by claiming his first international wicket during the first T20I against Bangladesh. The match, held at the Madhavrao Scindia Stadium in Gwalior, saw Yadav dismiss veteran batter Mahmudullah, marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning cricket career.

Mayank Yadav started strong, delivering a maiden over in his first appearance, becoming only the third Indian bowler to achieve this feat in T20 Internationals, following Ajit Agarkar and Arshdeep Singh. His impressive start set the tone for what was to come. In his second over, Mayank Yadav clocked an impressive 146.1 kmph while bowling to Mahmudullah.
The experienced Bangladeshi batter attempted to attack Mayank Yadav by stepping down the track but fell into the young pacer’s trap. Mahmudullah sliced a short ball into the air, providing an easy catch for Washington Sundar at deep point. This dismissal marked Bangladesh’s fourth wicket and further solidified Yadav’s reputation as a rising star in international cricket.

Before the match began, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to bowl first, citing humidity and the likelihood of a consistent pitch throughout the game. “We’ll look to bowl first. Looks humid; don’t think the wicket will change later on,” he stated confidently.
The Indian bowlers executed their plans effectively from the outset. Arshdeep Singh made an immediate impact by removing both Bangladeshi openers within three overs.
