In a conversation with former England captain, Kevin Pietersen, Virat Kohli spoke about his IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore. The skipper hoped that Bangalore based franchise deserves to win the most followed T20 league in the world.
IPL 2020 future
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, cricket tournaments got cancelled or postponed. There is uncertainty over future tournaments including the T20 World Cup 2020. The India Premier League was scheduled to begin on March 29 and Sourav Ganguly sounded optimistic about it. But then due to a troubled situation caused by the pandemic, the start of the IPL 2020 postponed to April 15. Meanwhile, India government-imposed restrictions on the foreign passports which meant the overseas players could not arrive for the league. Then the government decided to go for a 21-day lockdown till April 14 to combat the coronavirus threat.
Presently there is a very less chance of the IPL happening this time. Even if it happens the reports suggest that it might be a curtailed one or might travel abroad.
Kohli on RCB
The chat between Pietersen and Kohli saw the latter speaking about his IPL team, Royal Challengers Bangalore. They boast of a number of famous names from all over the world but they are yet to win the title once. In Virat Kohli’s captaincy career, RCB remains an unsolved mystery till now. Kohli told Pietersen, “When you have the biggest players who have played for RCB there is going to be a lot of attention on the team. We are always going to be more in focus.”
Kohli recalled the good times of leading RCB but mentioned why winning is important. “We have reached 3 finals but haven’t won a single one. Have reached 3 semis but those things are irrelevant till the time we don’t win the title. We have talked about it as well. We actually deserve to win a IPL title to be honest.”
