“We Knew We Had 160 To Chase” Says Monank Patel Aftes USA Basks In Glory After Match Against Pakistan

For the 11th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan entered the tournament with a match against hosts USA at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas on June 6.

Both Pakistan and USA men’s teams are placed in Group A for the tournament, alongside India, Canada and Ireland. India has played 1 match, and won 2 points. USA has now won 2 matches. Meanwhile, Canada, Pakistan and Ireland have lost their first matches.

Pakistan will be facing off against India in an exciting match for the tournament on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. The match has already garnered more attention than any other matches that have been played in T20 World Cup 2024.

USA won the toss and opted to bowl first. This resulted in the Pakistan team scoring 159 runs in the first innings of the match. USA had to chase a score of 160 runs, but they could only score 159, resulting in a tie. Team USA won the match after winning the superover.

USA captain Monank Patel was undoubtedly in high spirits after claiming victory against a team as big as Pakistan. The Indian origin cricketer addressed the audience after the match.

In his statement, Patel delved into the team’s performance in today’s game. 

“Winning the toss and the way we bowled in the first 6 overs, we took wickets and kept them quiet. We knew they will take chances after their partnership. We knew we were in the game with 160 to chase, just needed a partnership.” Monak said.

“Playing in a World Cup, you don’t get a chance to do it every year. We were fully committed every single ball.” He added.
