Shubman also credited Indian batters Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad who scored 100 runs and 77 runs respectively.

“Very happy, great to be back on the winning note back again. With the way Abhishek and Rutu batted, it was not easy especially in the powerplay, with the ball moving around but Abhi and Rutu built the innings brilliantly.” Shubman said.

Gill also added how the first match was a pressurizing one for a few players, who played their first match for the World Champion team.

“Yesterday, it was more about not being able to handle the pressure, it’s a young side and many of them are new to international exposure. It was actually good to have pressure in the first game and we knew what to expect coming into this game.” He added.

Abhishek Sharma became the Player Of The Match after his commendable batting in the first innings. Speaking of the upcoming matches, Shubman was hopeful and looked forward to them.

“We have got three matches to go and we are looking forward to them. It’s always good to have more options rather than not having options.”

Abhishek Sharma’s maiden century for the men in blue

Today’s match brought in a lot of comebacks for team India. From Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored 77 off 47 balls to Rinku Singh, who scored 48* in 22 balls. However, it was Abhishek Sharma who stole the spotlight scoring his first 100 for the men in blue.

Abhishek Sharma is undoubtedly a force to reckon. The young batter debuted for team India yesterday and scored his first century for the team today. Sharma’s performance in the 10th over of 2,4,6,4,6,4 runs in each ball while Dion Myers was bowling was stunning to day the least.

Abhishek achieved his century in a mere 47 balls, taking his strike rate to a whopping 212.77. These numbers are daunting for the bowlers, to say the least as they face Sharma layer on in the series.

Abhishek Sharma lost his wicket after his impressive century on Wellington Massakadza’s bowl. Dion Myers took his revenge by taking the catch that sent Sharma back to the pavillion.

These are the playing XI for both the teams

India (Playing XI): Shubman Gill(c), Abhishek Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Sudharsan, Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh, Dhruv Jurel(w), Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar
