“We Thought We Were A Bowl-First Team” Says Cummins As SRH Lost IPL 2024 Match Against RCB

The law of average has finally hit SunRisers Hyderabad as the team lost 5-match winning streak today, while playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore

The match took place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, and SRH still couldn’t get themselves to victory. It all started, when SRH lost the toss and RCB captain Faf du Plessis chose to bat first.

The move might have seemed as a hasty decision to many, as SRH is infamous for high-scoring games in IPL 2024. If RCB’s strategy didn’t work well, SRH could easily chase their score and win.

However, all RCB fans took a breath of relief after their favourite team won the match today by restricting SRH to 171 runs while they themselves had scored 206 runs. With this, SRH loses some points. The team is situated at number 3 after Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders as of now.

Cummins Thought RCB A Bowl-First Team

After the match, losing captain Pat Cummins addressed the team’s fans and spectators at the ceremony. Speaking about the team, Cummins said that the night was not ideal for the team. He also shared that they thought SRH was a bowl-first team and could work well with chasing runs.

“Not an ideal night. Few over par with the ball and unfortunately lost a few wickets throughout our innings. We were gonna bat first, it seems to be working for us. Before the last few wins, we were thinking that we were a bowl-first team. Didn’t go our way.”

Cummins’ message to the team

Captain Pat also shared the team’s dynamic that usually, he is the one who talks to the team after they win matches, and Dan (Vettori) speaks after losses.

“I speak after wins, Dan (Vettori) speaks after losses. The boys have been going really well, it’s T20 cricket, you are not going to win every game. Don’t dwell on this too much. (High risk, high reward approach with the bat) I think it’s our strong suit. It’s not going to work every game. One or two games where it hasn’t gone our way at the start, we still managed to get a good total. Still think this is the way forward for our boys.” Cummins said.

With this, SRH has lost their winning streak from the last 5 matches and RCB have moved ahead from their losing streak from the past 6 matches. Both the teams did well at showing utmost dedication for their respective franchise.
