On Tuesday, India snatched a 41-run win against Sri Lanka. India won the toss and decided to bat first. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma started the innings well. He scored a quick half-century and completed 10,000 runs in his ODI career. After Sharma’s wicket India’s batting lineup didn’t perform well. Shubman got out on 19.
Virat Kohli who scored an unbeaten century got on scoring 3 runs. Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul fought but didn’t stand for long. Hardik and Jadeja failed to contribute with the bat. With that disaster, India scored 213.
Wellalage’s magic spell:
There is only one name that destroyed Dunith Wellalage. This 20-year-old left-arm bowler took five big wickets for Sri Lanka. At first, he took Gill’s wicket and after that, he took Sharma’s, Kohli’s, Rahul’s, and Pandya’s. He took all these wickets only in 40 runs. In his bowling, he challenged both edges of right-hand batters.
Kohli got out on one of his finest deliveries. He bowled that ball but it stopped in the surface, so Kohli ended up playing a false shot and got out. After that match /Lasith Malina also praises him for this amazing spell.
Rahul’s comment on Wellalage:
On his spell, Rahul said,” He was spot on he got five wickets he did the job for his team. He looked the most dangerous bowler in Sri Lanka’s attack till now I was playing. What more can I say? He got five top-order batters out. It was a good day for him, he did well with the bat too.”
Rahul came to this tournament after a big injury. In this match, he scored 39. But he was the best batter against the Sri Lanka spinners. After the match, he added,” After playing the first few balls I tried to figure out what shots I can play here”
