After performing well in the first 2 matches, Arjun Tendulkar had the worst night on his 3rd IPL appearance. He bowled the first and third overs of his maiden IPL game against Kolkata Knight Riders, returning with stats of 2-0-17-0.
He then gave away 14 runs with the new ball in the following game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH was tasked with winning the match for Mumbai Indians when the opposition needed 20 runs and two wickets in the final over of his pursuit. Tendulkar maintained his composure, allowed only four runs, and took his first IPL wicket as MI went on to win the game.
But in the third game, he was smashed for 31 runs in one over by the Punjab batters as he recorded one of the worst figures in
IPL. He went gave 48 runs in his 3 overs.
Akash Chopra said
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that Sachin’s son might not make the starting XI for MI’s upcoming game.
“There are a few concerns in bowling. You will see either Jason Behrendorff or Riley Meredith along with Jofra Archer. Whether Arjun Tendulkar will play or not, I am not 100% certain. To be very honest, you see a few weaknesses in bowling”, he said.
Chopra criticized the MI bowling unit but had high admiration for seasoned spinner Piyush Chawla. With nine wickets, Chawla is now MI’s leading wicket-taker.
He stated, “Piyush Chawla has done exceedingly well but he didn’t bowl his entire quota of overs. Someone said he was injured. He got injured in the 15th over and spin wasn’t supposed to come after that in any case. He should have finished his over before that”.
The Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians will square off in the following IPL 2023 encounter. The match between GT and MI will be on Thursday, April 25. The game is held at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
In IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans are led by Hardik Pandya. Mumbai Indians are led by Rohit Sharma. GT and MI have each played six games so far in the competition. While GT has won 4 matches and lost 2, MI has won 3 games and lost 3.
