With a Blistering ton against pakistan today, KL Rahul joined the list of greats

On his comeback, wicket keeper batsman KL Rahul shattered the record books as he moved towards his 6th One day international hundred and registered his name with some greats of the game.

Along with Virat Kohli, wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul beautifully stitched a mammoth partnership of 233 runs with an exhilarating hundred. With this feat, he joined the club of icons, which includes the likes of Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. These 5 Indians are the only batters who have stuck a hundred against Pakistan in 50 over Asia cup tournament.

Comeback from setback

KL Rahul provided justice to the statement, that ‘sportsmen are wired differently’. Rahul endured a severe quadriceps injury during the Indian Premier League, 2023, owing to which he was out of action for almost four months.

Coming back to the international stage , and playing against arch rivals, Pakistan, surely did not make things easy for him. But the 31 year old batter had some different plans. He showed optimistic signs when he looted runs against top ranked pacers , Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf.

Manoeuvring operation, Asia Cup

As the play resumed on reserve day, Rahul tried and succeeded to unsettle the pakistani bowlers by unfurling the strokes of audacity. India who are eyeing the finals of Asia cup, were looking to win this match at any cost. Rahul stepped up along side Kohli , and both them made whacking the ball look like a cakewalk. 

The men in blue posted a massive target of 357, which is highest against Pakistan in the history of clashes between the two arch rivals.  KL Rahul scored a formidable 111 off 106 with twelve 4s and two 6s. 

Before the onset of much awaited world cup in India, Rahul has scored his 6th ODI ton, showing positive signs, with Shreyas Iyer looking doubtful after picking up a side strain before the the IND VS PAK contest. Not to forget, Rahul as batter provides flexibility in the middle order, as he can bat according to the match situation and can even be demoted or promoted, as required by the team’s situation.
