Despite the match between RCB and Gujarat Giants, there haven’t been any changes in the purple cap holdings of the tournament. The competition is currently being ruled by the Mumbai Indians. They have been extremely proficient with both bat and ball, making them the tournament’s front-runners. The second-highest run scorer in the competition, a West Indies all-rounder is ranked fifth on the purple cap list. She is the most useful player for the Mumbai Indians team and has taken 3 wickets in 2 games. The Mumbai Indians’ Saika Ishaque (MI) is still in first place overall in the WPL Purple Cap rankings. She is the only bowler with six wickets after playing two games for each franchise.
Garth and Norris are at the 2nd position and 3rd position respectively after their impressive performances. Amelia Kerr of the Mumbai Indians is at the fourth position taking 4 wickets in the tournament. Kerr is followed by her two teammates Hayley Mathews and Nat Scavier at 5th and 6th place.
Due to the flatness of the surface, Sophie Ecclestone did not bowl well in the powerplay as she usually does. She started bowling immediately after the break and claimed a wicket in her second over. She was the most costly bowler for the UP Warriorz despite not having the best performances overall, finishing with scores of 1-41. In the WPL Purple Cap standings, her performance places her at position 7.
In the second innings, in addition to her other accomplishments, Jess Jonassen was in charge of taking the majority of the wickets. The Australian all-rounder got three wickets, including the crucial one of Alyssa Healy, to advance on the Purple Cap list. She is now in position eight, just behind left-arm spinner Ecclestone.
Despite having a five-wicket haul to start the season, Tara Norris struggled against the UP Warriorz. The left-arm spinner took 25 runs off of her two overs while not conceding any wickets. She lost the chance to surpass Kim Garth’s impressive total of wickets and is presently in third position.
