Mumbai Indians are bossing the tournament right now. They have been very clinical with bat and ball and hence are the table toppers in the tournament. West Indies all-rounder is the second-highest run scorer in the tournament but also 5th in the purple cap list. She has taken 3 wickets in 2 matches being the most valuable player for the Mumbai Indians franchise. Saika Ishaque of the Mumbai Indians (MI) continues to hold the top place in the WPL Purple Cap standings. Having played two matches for each franchise, she is the only bowler with six wickets.
Garth and Norris are at the 2nd position and 3rd position respectively after their impressive performances. Amelia Kerr of the Mumbai Indians is at the fourth position taking 4 wickets in the tournament. Kerr is followed by her two teammates Hayley Mathews and Nat Scavier at 5th and 6th place.
Due to the flatness of the surface, Sophie Ecclestone did not bowl well in the powerplay as she usually does. She started bowling immediately after the break and claimed a wicket in her second over. She was the most costly bowler for the UP Warriorz despite not having the best performances overall, finishing with scores of 1-41. In the WPL Purple Cap standings, her performance places her at position 7.
In the second innings, Jess Jonassen was in charge of taking most of the wickets in addition to her exploits. In order to move up the Purple Cap list, the Australian all-rounder took three wickets, including the key one of Alyssa Healy. She is now in position eight, just behind Ecclestone, another left-arm spinner.
Tara Norris, who started the season with a five-wicket haul, struggled against the UP Warriorz. The left-arm bowler gave up no wickets while taking 25 runs off of her two overs. She missed the opportunity to increase her remarkable number of wickets and is now in third place, behind Kim Garth.
