The journey of the group stage of the Women’s Premier League 2024 has been ended. After 20 group-stage matches, three teams qualified for the playoffs. On the 20th match of the tournament, Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants locked horns at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The match witnessed both, the batter’s and bowler’s prowess.
While batting first, Gujarat Giants gave a shaky start. The first few wickets got down early. Laura Wolvaardt walked away after scoring 7 runs in 11 balls. Beth Mooney was dismissed on a duck. The Delhi bowlers kept dominating the opponent. Marizanne Kap, Shikha Pandey, and Minnu Mani took 2 wickets each. Jess Jonasen ended up taking 1 wicket in 32 runs.
In another way, while batting in the second innings, Delhi Capitals batters dominated the Gujarat Bowlers. Skipper Meg Lanning was run out by Laura Wolvaardt. Tanuja Kanwer took 2 wickets in 20 runs. Shafali Verma’s masterclass and Jemimah Rodrigues’s mindful innings sealed Delhi’s place in the final. DC qualified for the final after winning the match by 7 wickets.
