You Are Better Than This: Twitter Has Messages for Pant

Rishabh Pant’s bad form continues. He was needed to hang around after quick dismissals of two set Indian batters but he was gone for a three-ball duck. The netizens were clearly not impressed and took to social media to comment on him.

Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara came back to form and recovered Indian innings. But Rahane was the first man to go tomorrow morning once Indian innings resumed. Pujara followed him soon and the onus was on Pant. But the wicketkeeper-batter continued his poor form with the bat as he was dismissed for a duck off three balls on Day 3 of the Johannesburg Test against South Africa.

Pant faced a nasty short delivery from Kagiso Rabada and was hit on the gloves while trying to resist the delivery. But it fell well short of the slip. The next ball saw him trying to slog a delivery over extra cover which found the keeper. He could manage an outside edge which was well pocketed by the keeper and India were in more trouble with 167/5.

Meanwhile, India had lost their two set batters in Ajinkya Rahane and Pujara after 58 and 53 scored by the senior batters respectively. Hanuma Vihari was the next highest scorer with 40 runs as Indian innings was wrapped up for 266.

Indian cricket fans did not take Pant’s horrible dismissal lightly and were seen showering their thoughts on social media. They took to Twitter to vent their frustration. Vikrant Gupta wrote, “This is no way to get out. Rishabh Pant had to fight it out with the Test on line. Not buying this aggression at all #IndvsSAF”. Rahul Rawat wrote, “No method in this madness from Rishabh Pant. #INDvsSA”. Some also expressed how Pant is better than this showing.
