Along with senior cricket, U-19 cricket is witnessing several star players. In the last U-19 World Cup, the Australian team has shown their excellence. Among all, Sam Konstas, Ryan Hicks, and Charlie Anderson earned contracts with News South Wales after that excellence on the big stage.

They won major trophies including the ODI World Cup 2023. The year 2024 started on a great note. They won the under-19 World Cup Trophy earlier this year. 

Three young Australian cricket talents, Sam Konstas, Ryan Hicks, and Charlie Anderson, have been recognized for their outstanding performances at the Under-19 World Cup. Their crucial contributions helped the team secure their fourth title in the category, and now they’ve been rewarded with their first professional domestic contracts.

The trio has been added to New South Wales’ roster alongside seasoned players Nic Maddinson and Josh Philippe. This move marks a significant step forward in their cricketing careers, providing them with the opportunity to compete at higher levels and further hone their skills.

Exceptional Performances by the Youngsters:

Sam Konstas, who made his first-class debut for New South Wales last November, has secured a full contract after his strong performances. He scored a century in the Under-19 World Cup against the West Indies and hit his first Shield half-century in the final match of the season against Queensland.

Ryan Hicks and Charlie Anderson received rookie contracts. Hicks, a promising wicketkeeper-batter, scored a century in a youth test against England last year. Anderson, a right-arm pacer, was impressive at the Under-19 World Cup and has taken Jack Nisbet’s rookie spot was upgraded to a full contract.

NSW cricket performance chief Greg Mail welcomed the addition of the three young players to the team, expressing satisfaction with their inclusion in the squad. He said, “Sam and Jack both confirmed their talent and development at the domestic level last season and are deserving of their elevation to full contracts. By the same account, Ryan Hicks and Charlie Anderson showed internationally at Under-19 level and then through weight of consistency at Premier Cricket level that they were ready for rookie contracts and a full-time professional opportunity.”

Both bring a number of strengths and a wealth of experience and they will help the balance and depth of our squad.
