Former Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan became a prominent figure from Trinamool Congress (TMC) for the 2024 Lok Sabha Election from Bharampur. Today after the result, he celebrated a significant victory in the Baharampur constituency of West Bengal. Competing against Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Yusuf Pathan is currently in the lead as per the latest updates. His foray into politics has garnered attention, with his potential triumph marking a notable milestone in his political journey, reflecting the support and trust he has garnered from the constituents.

Yusuf Pathan made his debut in the Lok Sabha elections and his victory has caught many by surprise. This unexpected win is particularly noteworthy considering Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s extensive experience as a five-time Member of Parliament representing the same constituency. Yusuf’s successful entry into politics has certainly turned heads and reshaped the political landscape.
Yusuf Pathan faced a slow start, initially trailing in third place in the constituency. Nevertheless, as the counting advanced, he gained momentum, surpassing both Congress candidate Chowdhury and BJP’s Nirmal Kumar Saha. His steady rise in numbers showcased a remarkable turnaround in the election results.
As per the official data released by the Election Commission of India, Yusuf Pathan secured a total of 423,451 votes, triumphing with a substantial margin of 64,084 votes. In contrast, Congress representative Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury garnered 359,367 votes, while BJP contender Dr. Nirmal Kumar Saha secured the third position with 323,685 votes in the Baharampur constituency election results.
After his biggest win, he expressed, “ I congratulate all of you who have been with me. I am happy. It is not only my win but also of all the workers. Records are made to be broken. I respect Adhir Ranjan. I will continue to do so. I will make a sports academy first so that they can make a career. I will also work for industries. I will be living here and working for the people. I will also be in Gujarat as my family is there. I have got a new family in Baharampur. I talked to Didi (Mamata Banerjee). They are happy.”
