Yuvraj Names This Indian Player In His Top Three Players of Playing XI and it’s not Virat, Dhoni or Rohit

Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian cricket star, has recently stirred conversations in the cricketing community by naming his all-time playing XI, which notably excludes some of the biggest names in Indian cricket history, including MS Dhoni. This surprising omission has sparked debates among fans and analysts alike, especially considering Yuvraj’s close relationship with Dhoni, as they were teammates during India’s historic World Cup wins in 2007 and 2011.

Yuvraj surprising choice of playing XI

When asked to name his first three players for an XI, former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who was instrumental in helping India win the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2007 T20 World Cup, picked only one Indian, Jasprit Bumrah, ignoring batting maestro Virat Kohli, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, and the great MS Dhoni.

Bumrah, who made his debut for India in an ODI match against Australia in Sydney on January 23, 2016, has been a reliable player ever since. In addition to being one of the all-time greats in cricket, the 30-year-old pacer was instrumental in India’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024.

For Team India, Yuvraj and Bumrah shared dressing rooms during Yuvraj’s time with the Mumbai Indians in the 2019 IPL season. The two also participated in numerous T20Is and ODIs together. However, in the 2014 Indian Premier League, the renowned all-around batsman and left-hander De Villiers collaborated with Gayle while he was a member of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Yuvraj’s favorite IPL team

In response to a question about his favorite IPL team, the 42-year-old former cricket player named the Delhi Capitals. The Delhi Capitals have been linked to Yuvraj as their head coach. When the Delhi-based team parted ways with former Australian captain Ricky Ponting in July 2024, they began looking for a new coach.

Ponting, the Australian captain who won two ODI World Cups, led Delhi from 2018 to 2024. During his seven years in that role, DC only made it to the IPL final once, while in the previous three seasons, it finished outside the top four. After signing for Rs 16 crore at the auction, Yuvraj participated in the 2015 edition of the lucrative competition as a player for DC in the Indian Premier competition.
