New Zealand cricket superstar Kane Williamson went unsold in the Platinum round of the PSL 10 Draft. The former Kiwi skipper failed to attract any interest from the six franchises during the initial phase of the draft.
Williamson’s omission in the Platinum round raised eyebrows, especially considering his status as one of the modern greats. Williamson has played 93 T20Is for New Zealand. He has scored 2,575 runs at an average of 33.44.

The PSL Draft saw a number of New Zealand players picked up early on, which made Kane Williamson’s exclusion all the more surprising. Players like Finn Allen, Mark Chapman, and Adam Milne were quickly snapped up by franchises, but the Kiwi captain remained unpicked.
With the Diamond round of the auction just around the corner, all eyes will be on Kane Williamson to see if any franchise takes a chance on him. His T20 strike rate of around 123 has been criticized for being a bit on the lower side in today’s fast-paced format.
However, Williamson has a history of delivering. He’s proven time and again that he can anchor an innings, keep the scoreboard ticking, and guide his team through tricky situations.
The PSL Draft was held at Hazuri Bagh in Lahore, a venue steeped in history. Built in 1818 by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the garden-style pavilion added a touch of tradition to the modern cricketing event.
The Platinum round featured some big moves. David Warner was one of the standout picks, joining Karachi Kings for his first-ever PSL stint. Meanwhile, Islamabad United grabbed Jason Holder, adding more firepower to their squad.
Mohammad Ali rounded out the Diamond round for Peshawar Zalmi, while Corbin Bosch joined the team earlier in the session. Karachi Kings continued their recruitment spree by securing Khushdil Shah and Abbas Afridi.
