Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore was born on 6th November 1996 at Madipakkam in Chennai. The tall, lanky left-arm spin bowler used to be a class-topper in the school and dreamt of being a scientist. Then cricket happened and he showed the same level of skill and determination to make a name in this sport. Sai Kishore is on the verge of making an IPL debut in UAE.
1. Sai Kishore first came in focus with his performance in Tamil Nadu Premier League. He is one of the most successful bowlers in TNPL over the last few seasons. He was the highest wicket-taker in the 2017 season and continued his good work. Even his leadership skill was in view in 2019 when he was handed the captaincy of the Ruby Trichy Warriors.
2. One of the controversial moments of TNPL also involved Sai Kishore as he got engaged in a physical clash with opponent batsman N Jagadeeshan during a match in 2016. Interestingly, India spinner Ravichandra Ashwin was present as the non-striker and he helped to control the situation. However, the young Sai Kishore got a class from the senior spinner and his idol on the ground.
3. Based on his TNPL showing, Sai Kishore graduated to his state team and made his List-A debut for Tamil Nadu in a Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final against Gujarat and got two wickets in the match. He made his first-class debut in the same year in the Ranji Trophy against Tripura but went wicketless. Till now he has played 17 first-class matches for Tamil Nadu and took 45 wickets.
4. He also played 22 T20 matches for his state and his performance in the 2019/20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was very impressive. He finished the tournament as the highest wicket-taker with 20 wickets at an average of 10.40 and an unbelievable economy rate of 4.63 runs per over. And he achieved all this despite bowling the majority of his overs in the powerplay.
5. Sai Kishore did not have to wait long after this performance. Despite not being picked during the IPL auction in 2018, he took part in various trials and was also a net-bowler for CSK. Finally, CSK picked him up in the December 2019 auction at his base price of 20 Lakh. Now he is ready to show his skills at the biggest stage of all.
