A Glimpse From the Last Season
IPL 2019 was the 12th season of Indian Premier League. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings the three-time champions met in the finals of IPL 12, and the Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 1 run and became the first team to win IPL title for four times.
Team MI was on the top of the IPL points table with 18 points and 0.421 Net Run Rate. David Warner of Sunrisers Hyderabad was the leading run-scorer of the tournament and for that, he won the orange cap. Similarly, Imran Tahir of CSK was the purple cap winner for taking most wickets in the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings
IPL 2019 runner up CSK retained 20 players. They bought four players in the IPL 2020 Auction. The CSK team bought Piyush Chawla (Rs. 6.75 Cr.), Josh Hazlewood (Rs. 2. Cr.), Sam Curran (Rs. 5.5 Cr.), and R Sai Kishore (Rs. 20 L).

Mumbai Indians
The four-times IPL champion retained 18 players for the IPL 13. The team traded Sherfane Rutherford (6.2 Cr.), Trent Boult (2.2 Cr.), and Dhawal Kulkarni (75 Lakhs) and bought Six players in the IPL 2020 Auction.

Royal Challengers Bangalore
The Royal Challengers Bangalore team retained 13 players from their IPL 2019 squad. They purchased a total of 8 players from the auction to complete their squad for IPL 13. The franchise also changed their logo before the start of IPL 2020.

Kolkata Knight Riders
The champions of IPL 2012 and IPL 2014, Kolkata Knight Riders retained 14 players from their IPL 2019 roster. The Knight Riders bought 8 new players from the Auction and completed their IPL 2020 squad with 22 players. They bought Pat Cummins for 15.50 Cr. which made him the highest-paid overseas player in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Sunrisers Hyderabad
The IPL 2016 Champions retained 18 players and they needed only 7 more players for IPL 2020. The team SRH purchased a total of 7 players from the IPL 2020 Auction and completed their squad with 8 Batsman, 7 All-rounders, and 10 Bowlers.

Kings XI Punjab
The Kings XI Punjab team retained 16 players from their IPL 12 squad. The franchise purchased 9 new players from the IPL Auction 2020 and completed their squad for the 13th edition of the IPL. KXIP’s Director Anil Kumble confirmed that KL Rahul will captain Kings XI Punjab in the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League.

The Rajasthan Royals team retained 14 players for the IPL 2020. RR purchased 7 Indian players and 4 overseas players and completed their squad for the 12th season of the IPL.

In the IPL 2020 season, KL Rahul of the Kings XI Punjab won the Orange Cap as the tournament’s top run-scorer.
