In a stunning display of resilience and determination, Rishabh Pant‘s remarkable recovery from a serious car crash has left the cricket fraternity astounded. As the India wicketkeeper undergoes rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, his progress has taken everyone by surprise.
Pant getting fitter
Sources reveal that while the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is eager to expedite Pant’s rehabilitation in hopes of his participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup; it is expected that his recovery process will take longer than anticipated. Nevertheless, Pant remains unfazed by the possibility of not featuring in any cricket matches this year, displaying an unwavering spirit.
Pant’s rehabilitation journey under the expert guidance of renowned physio S Rajnikanth, known for his work with various India age-group teams and the Delhi Capitals, has been encouraging. While the return to skill work is still a distance away, Pant is actively engaged in enhancing his lower-body and upper-body mobility exercises, marking significant progress in his recovery.
Pant’s rehabilitation going positive
Pant’s rehabilitation routine incorporates a mix of aqua therapy, light swimming, and table tennis, providing him with a holistic approach to regaining his fitness. Additionally, he has been conducting interactive sessions with aspiring young cricketers of both genders attending training camps at the NCA, organized by NCA chief VVS Laxman. These sessions not only break the monotony of rehab but also serve to inspire and uplift the morale of budding talents.
Despite the disappointment of being away from the field since his last appearance during India’s tour of Bangladesh in December 2022, Pant has maintained a positive outlook and actively engaged himself. Alongside fellow teammates Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, and Prasidh Krishna, who are also undergoing rehab at the NCA, Pant watched the World Test Championship final, fostering camaraderie and supporting each other through their respective journeys.
