Ben Stokes, the captain of the England Test squad, has praised the appointment of Brendon McCullum as the team’s white-ball coach. McCullum is now in charge of the Test team. Following two dismal World Cup campaigns for England, Matthew Mott resigned from the position.

Brendon McCullum was named as Mott’s replacement by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Tuesday, and he has a contract with the team that runs through 2027. Jos Buttler will adore working with McCullum, according to Stokes, who was speaking at the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in London. McCullum allows his players to play freely. He stated, as reported by ESPN Cricinfo: “If I were selfish in the slightest, I would be saying, ‘No, please don’t.'” However, I’m an English fan who loves cricket in England, and I can’t think of a better candidate to take over as the team’s new coach. Jos will, in my opinion, really, really love having him as his coach.”
Together, Stokes and McCullum have developed a strong rapport as they assume charge of the Test team in 2022. During their rule, England has only suffered one series defeat. Following his hiring, McCullum stated, “I’ve really enjoyed working with the Test team, and I’m thrilled to expand my role to include the white-ball sides.” “I’m excited to work closely with Jos [Buttler] and the team to build on the solid foundations that are already in place.
