Big blow for RCB: Star RCB batter to miss the first half of IPL due to injury

This edition of the IPL is turning into the ‘Injured Premier League.’ One more star player may miss the initial half of the IPL due to injury. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s number 3 batter Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of the first half of the IPL due to a heel injury. He is currently at the NCA in Bengaluru. However, this isn’t the only injury concern for RCB. Australian bowler Josh Hazlewood is currently recovering from his injury Achilles tendonitis.

Will Jacks has already been ruled out of the IPL due to injury. Hazzlewood is still recovering, Hasaranga to miss initial games and now this injury to Patidar has made things even worse for the franchise.

Due to Patidar’s absence, Royal Challengers may need to change their batting lineup. Mike Hesson, the franchise’s director of cricket, had previously declared that Virat Kohli would continue to open the batting with Faf du Plessis even with him in the mix. Due to the injury, it’s possible that Kohli will move back to position three and Anuj Rawat or Finn Allen will start with du Plessis.

Despite not being chosen at the big auction last year, Patidar was brought in as a replacement midway through the season after wicketkeeper Luvnith Sisodia became injured.

His fastest hundred by an Indian in the history of the event served as an announcement of his entry into the Eliminator, and the ESPNcricinfo panelists rated that innings as the finest in men’s franchise cricket in 2022.

Patidar’s 2022 season

Behind Virat Kohli and du Plessis, Patidar concluded the season as Royal Challengers’ third-highest run-scorer. He had a strike rate of 152.75 and scored 333 runs in seven innings. His success in the IPL and his outstanding performance for Madhya Pradesh in their championship-winning Ranji Trophy season last year helped him gain a spot in India’s ODI team for the summer of that year.

The next three weeks should be spent resting for Patidar before an MRI will determine whether he can compete in the second half of the competition. He sustained the injury before arriving at the camp, therefore he will need to get the all-clear from the NCA before joining the Royal Challengers team.
