India’s star batter and wicketkeeper, KL Rahul, has finally recovered from a hamstring injury he suffered during the IPL earlier this year. The 31-year-old batsman has made an excellent comeback for the team just before the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023.
His sensational comeback was visible in the match against Pakistan, where he smashed an unbeaten score of 111. He surely helped India reach the final stage of the Asia Cup by making such a crucial contribution for the team.
S. Sreesanth’s special request to KL Rahul
Former Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth has urged KL Rahul to maintain this consistency and play in all of the ODI series against Australia starting on September 22.
The former feels that Rahul’s uniformity needs to be maintained ahead of the World Cup, owing to which he can extend his free-scoring runs against Australia.
Sreesanth added, “I would ask the likes of KL Rahul to play all the games and maintain the consistency that we spoke about. Show Australia that it will be worse for them in the World Cup. “Just demoralize them and make sure we don’t lose.”
Resting Rohit and Kohli for the ODI series
The management has further decided to rest Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli for the first two matches ahead of the World Cup after which Rohit will return for the final match. All-rounder Hardik Pandya and in-form spinner Kuldeep Yadav have also been put behind the three-match ODI series against Australia.
In Rohit’s absence, KL Rahul will be seen leading India in the ODI series. The playing squad for the tournament premiering on September 22 has already been announced, and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s return to the team made the biggest news.
