ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 has been concluded. The tournament ended up with a lot of memories. Australia snatched the big win in the final match against India. With this win, Australia became the World Champion for the sixth time. The team was excellent in the final match. In batting, bowling, and fielding, the Australian squad was excellent. They dominated the Indian squad. But the real hero of the match was Travis Head. His exceptional knock made Australia win this match. After the match, the Australian skipper Pat Cummins praised him.
Travis Head’s Excellence:
Travis Head had a dream World Cup debut this year. He scored a century on his debut. He was injured before the World Cup but recovered from the injury and was named in the squad. In the first two matches, Australia faced defeats, but after that, they came back remarkably. He was in a great rhythm in the whole tournament. In the semifinal against South Africa, Head played a knock of 62 runs in 48 balls. That knock helped Australia to qualify for the World Cup final.
The World Cup final was a fairy tale for Australia. Travis Head did exceptionally well in the match against India. While batting in the second innings, Travis Head played an excellent knock. He played a knock of 137 runs in 120 balls. His inning was contained with 15 boundaries and 4 over-boundaries. He batted with a strike rate of 114.17. That inning secured Australia’s win.
Pat Cummins on Travis Head:
Travis Head was excellent in the final match against India. After winning the match, Pat Cummins praised him. He said, “ I think the unheralded (are) the selectors that backed him even when he had a broken hand. And the medical team to get him back, there was a big risk we took and it paid off. You couldn’t be happier for Travis, he’s a legend and we love him and how fun is he to watch?”
Australia played amazing cricket in the match. The Aussie bowler stopped Indian batters in just 240 runs. The slow pitch becomes beneficial for them. On this domination, he said, “ (They were) desperate for sure. I think it all started last week, against South Africa. The boys have been fantastic. We’ve got an aging side but everyone still throws themselves around when you’ve got a big stadium like this packed.”
After Australia won the match, the whole stadium got silent. The stands were filled with Indian fans but they kept quiet after watching Australia’s excellence. On this matter, Cummins said, “ I was pretty happy they (the crowd) were solid for the bowling innings. A couple of times it got loud and it was really loud. I mean the passion in India is unrivalled around the World. Every single person is wearing a blue shirt and you look around and it is a pretty special moment. Whatever the result, we’re never going to forget a day like today.”
