“I am very happy.” Sanju Samson Reflects on His Stellar Performance After Outstanding Victory Against Bangladesh

Another thrilling whitewash registered after captain Suryakumar Yadav’s name. After defeating Bangladesh in the two-match Test series, Team India defeated Bangladesh in a three-match T20 series by a 3-0 margin. Especially, in the third T20I match of the series, Team India registered an exceptional performance. In the match, Sanju Samson played a crucial role in securing the victory and registered his maiden T20 hundred. Because of that outstanding contribution, he was awarded the Player of the Match award. Sanju’s Reflection on his performance: 

Opening the innings, Sanju Samson came out in top form, launching an aggressive attack from the first ball. He reached his half-century with a powerful six and kept up the momentum. Samson scored his first T20I century for Team India in just 40 balls, making a stunning comeback after recent challenges. His impressive knock of 111 off 47 balls included 11 fours and 8 sixes, marking a brilliant innings.

While reflecting on the innings, Sanju Samson said, “The dressing room energy and the boys really have lots of happiness for me. I am very happy. They are happy that I did well. It can get frustrating knowing what you can do out there and the way I have been batting, I thought that could have done much better. Those thoughts keep coming in your head.”

Recovering from Failure and Playing Under Pressure:

Before this knock, Sanju Samson was criticized for his consecutive failures on the international stage. Even in the first two matches of the T20I series, he struggled with his forms and failed to play impactful innings. But he bounced back in the third match and registered his maiden T20I hundred.

While talking about overcoming failures, Sanju said, “With lot of experience and so many games I have played, I know how to deal with the pressure and failures. I have failed a lot, so I know how to manage my mind accordingly. I keep telling myself I just need focus on the process, keep doing my training, keep believing in myself and one day it’ll come soon.”

While reflecting on playing under pressure, he said, “Playing for the country, you come in with a lot of pressure. That pressure was there, I wanted to perform and I wanted to show what I am capable of.
