The entire cricket world is enjoying the thrilling time with the T20 World Cup 2024. The Indian fans are even more excited as Team India is all set to appear in the final stage and set to face South Africa. As the tournament is set to be wrapped up, Team India coach Rahul Dravid will end his coaching tenure. Former Indian player Gautam Gambhir may replace him in this position. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly made a big comment on that.
Ganguly on Gambhir:
As the T20 World Cup draws to a close, Rahul Dravid, the current head coach, has indicated his intention not to extend his contract beyond the tournament. Gautam Gambhir has emerged as a frontrunner for the position, bolstered by his recent role as team mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders during the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Under Gambhir’s mentorship, KKR clinched their third IPL title, showcasing his adeptness at leadership and strategic guidance. His extensive experience as a former player and his proven track record in mentoring has positioned him strongly as a candidate to take over the helm as head coach of the Indian team.
The decision is not official yet. But Gambhir’s name is buzzing the most. On this matter, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly said, “I think he will be the next coach (for Team India).”
Praising Team India:
After having a great start in the T20 World Cup 2024, Team India carried on their form. After clearing the group stage with an unbeaten streak, they kept that status alive to qualify for the final with that unbeaten streak. In the semifinal, they defeated England in a dominating game and made their place in the final match. In the final, they will face South Africa. ‘
Sourav Ganguly praised Team India for their incredible performances throughout. He said, “To get to two World Cup finals in 7 months speaks volumes about the capability & strength of the team…They will not make any changes to the team and this is Rohit Sharma’s leadership style. It will be the same team…I wish they win it tomorrow.”
