ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Most Wickets: Updated After USA vs CAN and WI vs PNG Match

The long wait is over and the biggest ICC T20I tournament hit the floor today. Fans have witnessed two amazing matches on the very first day of the tournament. On one side host the United States of America clashed against Canada in Texas, on the other hand, co-host West Indies faced Papua New Guinea in Guyana. Both teams gave a tough time to their respective opponent and made the match interesting to all the spectators.

Bowling Performance of USA vs CAN:

The biggest tournament has kicked off with the match between USA and Canada. The inaugural match was very interesting and thrilling at the same time. After winning the toss, USA skipper decided to bowl first against Canada. USA bowlers Corey Anderson, Harmeet Singh, and Ali Khan picked up one wicket each, and two unfortunate run-outs also happened. Though their bowling was not up to the mark they tried well.

On the other side, when Canada came to defend the big 194 runs total, they picked up an early wicket of Steven Taylor and Kaleem Sana got that wicket. After that, they conceded runs and didn’t do much with the ball. Also, Dillon Heyliger and Nikhil Dutta also got 1 wicket each. But it didn’t matter as Canada lost that match against USA.

Bowling Performance of WI vs PNG:

After winning the toss, WI skipper Rovman Powell decided to bowl first. In the first powerplay, they did amazing bowling and picked up 3 wickets of Tony Ura, Lega Siaka, and PNG skipper Assad Vala. In the second powerplay, they took 2 wickets and at the end, they took 3 wickets and restricted PNG to 136 runs at the loss of eight wickets. From WI’s end, Andre Russell and Alzarri Joseph got 2 wickets each, and Akeal Hosein, Romario Shepherd, and Gudakesh Motie took 1 wicket respectively.

On the other hand, when Papua New Guinea came to defend, they put up an amazing effort and put WI batter under pressure. PNG skipper Assad Vala took 2 crucial wickets, John Kariko took an important wicket of Nicholas Pooran, Chad Soper picked up the wickets of WI skipper Rovman Powell and Alei Nao also got a wicket. It was a great team effort by PNG bowlers.
