Iconic Gabba Cricket Stadium Faces Transformation: Demolition and Rebirth Planned for 2032 Olympics

A new feather is going to be added to the crown of the world cricket. For the Olympics 2032, cricket will be added. Brisbane is all set to host the 2032 Olympics. It is a prestigious opportunity for the whole city as well as for the whole of Australia. Arrangements for the mega event have already started. 

Gabba Stadium is Set to be Renovated:

For arranging the 2032 Olympics, Brisbane Cricket Stadium, firmly known as Gabba is all set to have a new look. The State’s Deputy Premier Steven Miles confirmed that 2.7 billion Australian dollars will be given for the development of the stadium. Miles also said that the sitting capacity will be increased to 50,000 for the multi-sport event. 

A lot of changes will be made for the mega event. A lot of things will be relocated at the time of the renovation. A local primary school in that area will be relocated. In the building phases, cricket teams and a renowned football club will also be relocated. 

The Renovation and Other Developments:

In 2025, the venue will host the Ashes series. The renovation of the Gabba Stadium will take around four years. So technically, the renovation will be complete by 2030. With this. Brisbane will be the third Australian city to host the prestigious multi-sport event. In 1956, Melbourne hosted the Olympics for the first time as an Australian city, and then in 2000, Sydney hosted the mega event 2000.

Along with that, Gabba will be linked to a nearby Cross River Railway Station. That will start working ahead of the Stadium’s redevelopment. Steven Miles said, “ That project validation report assessed four possible options for the Gabba and identified that a demolition and rebuild provided the best possible outcome, the best value outcome for the city.”

He also added, “ It will be a well-connected stadium but, most importantly, it will trigger the urban  renewal that we want to see…it will be one of the best parts of the city to live in.” Cricket will experience a new journey. The city along with the whole continent is ready to welcome all the athletes from all over the world and ready to organise a mega campaign.
