Indian Cricket team’s current skipper and batsman Rohit Sharma, in a recent interview with one of the correspondents Vimal Kumar, spoke at length about how his father remains a great source of inspiration and support. The latter expressed deep affection for his father, Gurunath Sharma, and said that he has been a constant source of motivation and guidance.
Recalling his father’s struggles
Rohit has credited his father for all the success he has attained throughout his cricket career. On being asked about his greatest inspiration, Rohit hesitated to answer the question, first expecting that they wanted to hear someone’s name from the cricket world itself, but rather he took a sigh and calmly answered that it’s his father.
He shared a heartfelt insight on Vimal Kumar’s official YouTube channel and said, “My father is my biggest hero. I have said this many times. He raised us with a lot of struggles. The result of this struggle is very sweet. We were small; he sacrificed a lot for us.”
Rohit also claimed that his father raised him amidst indefinite blows and gave everything to the legendary opener in his pursuit to go after his dream of pursuing cricket. He opened up about how his father made huge sacrifices to fulfill his dream.
Returning to the World Cup
With the World Cup just two weeks away, Rohit Sharma is all set for the biggest cricket tournament for the third time, after the 2015 and 2019 editions. The ground is all ready for the India vs. Australia faceoff scheduled for October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.Â
Currently, the Australian cricket team is in India for the 3-match ODI series that commenced on September 22 with the last match on September 27 in Rajkot.
