The IPL 2024 is set to commence soon. The teams are doing their last-time preparations. Just before the season commenced, some of the franchises were hit with some injury news. In between this Delhi Capitals received good news. Rishabh Pant has been declared fit to play the season. But Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans are going to have setbacks as their main bowlers are going to miss the season.
Mohammad Shami and Prasidh Krishna to Miss IPL 2024:
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will be without fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna, as confirmed by the BCCI medical team on March 11. The statement revealed that both players underwent surgeries earlier this year for their individual injuries. Unfortunately, their recovery process won’t be completed in time for the T20 tournament, set to begin on March 22. The absence of Shami and Krishna is a setback for their teams, and cricket fans will miss witnessing their bowling prowess in action during this IPL season.
Mohammed Shami, absent since the World Cup, underwent surgery on February 26 to address his right heel injury. This medical intervention aims to facilitate Shami’s recovery, ensuring that he receives the necessary treatment for his injury. His return to the cricketing scene is eagerly anticipated following this corrective procedure.
The statement said, “He is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team and is ruled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.”
Prasidh Krishna, a key player for the Rajasthan Royals, had surgery on his left proximal quadriceps tendon on February 23. Unfortunately, this means he will be absent from the upcoming edition of the tournament for the former champions. His recovery process will keep him out of action during this IPL season.
The board’s Statement said, “He (Prasidh) is currently being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team and will resume rehab at the National Cricket Academy soon. He will not be able to take part in the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.”
Big Update on Rishabh Pant:
In an announcement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is ready for the Indian Premier League (IPL), beginning March 22. However, fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna won’t participate due to injuries. Pant, who had an accident post the Bangladesh series, is set to make a comeback.
The Statement said, “After undergoing an extensive 14-month rehab and recovery process, following a life-threatening road mishap on December 30th, 2022, near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, Rishabh Pant has now been declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming IPL 2024.”
