The dope testing program for the IPl 2020 has been finalized by NADA. Reportedly a total of 50 samples of cricketers will be collected during the cash-rich league scheduled to be held in the UAE by three batches of experts.
Dope testing program by NADA for IPL 2020
India’s National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) is ready its dope testing program for the IPL 2020 which is finalized to be held in the UAE from September 19 to November 10. According to the leading newspaper Times of India, NADA is going to have five ‘Dope Control Stations’ (DCS) in the UAE from where they will be carrying out its anti-doping activities for the Indian Premier League. At the three venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah there will be one DCS each, and one such center will be set up at each of the two designated training venues – ICC Academy in Dubai and Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
According to the director-general of NADA, Navin Agarwal told that NADA dope control officers (DCOs) have been directed to perform the ‘in competition’ testing only at the playing venues. But the ‘out-of-competition’ testing will be carried out only at the training sites. Overall a total of 50 samples of cricketers will be collected throughout the tournament.
Three teams to travel to UAE
So what types of samples are NADA going to collected? While there will be urine samples, NADA might collect blood samples too if needed. The Dope Control Officers will test international cricketers and the leading names from the Indian circuit as well. TOI reports that three teams will be traveling to the UAE in batches to conduct the whole program. Each team will have five members (one senior NADA official, two lead DCOs, and two local chaperones provided by the UAE’s anti-doping body).
