IPL 2021: Kedar Jadhav to be Released by CSK Ahead of IPL 2021

Reportedly Chennai Super Kings are set to release Kedar Jadhav ahead of IPL 14. The 35-year-old player might have to the wrath of a horrendous IPL 2020 as per a source’s version to InsideSport.

On Monday the new Governing Council of the IPL held a virtual meeting and asked the teams to release players by January 20. The plan is to hold the mini-auction for the next edition of Indian Premier League on February 11. According to a source close to Chennai Super Kings management, “Jadhav was not in best of form in IPL 2020. He was also struggling with his fitness. CSK will move on from Jadhav in IPL 2021, everyone in the team management feels that it will be prudent to take this hard call and invest in future.”

The all-rounder was in a very poor form in IPL 2020 as failed to accelerate with the bat at the lower order which is one of his primary jobs. He scored only 62 runs in eight games with a strike rate of 93.93. He didn’t hit a single six in IPL 13.

Jadhav was bought by CSK for a whopping Rs 7.8 crore in IPL 2018 mega-auction. He played a match-winning knock of 24 in the opening match of IPL 2018 before being ruled out of the complete season. Next year, he scored 162 runs before being ruled out of playoff matches. IPL 2020 was the first-ever season which saw Jadhav being available for the side for the full season. But due to his poor form, he was dropped in few matches.

By February 11, eight IPL teams will have to take a call on the final lists of retained and released players by this deadline. The IPL Governing Council is yet to decide on the venue of the auction. The committee will also take a call regarding the venue of the tournament. According to a report published on InsideSport, the IPL GC headed by Brijesh Patel will monitor the situation in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 before deciding anything further.
